Horus-I recently supported the Singapore Floor Ball Team at the 2021 IFF World Championships. The championships were hosted in Uppsala, Sweden with the teams spending approximately 12 days training at the Eerikkilä Sport & Outdoor Resort in Finland at their training camp, before heading to Sweden for the championships.
Qualifying teams were scheduled to play the world championships in early 2021, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they had to be cancelled. Additionally, qualifying teams were decided according to regional quotas and ranking. Sweden, as the host country, received direct qualification.
We supported the Singapore Women and Men’s team via our app by providing real-time travel alerts and safety monitoring throughout the duration of the trip. The team also received Covid-19 travel alerts that our research and development team have recently developed the app to now provide. This feature automatically updates the app and control panel with the latest COVID-19 figures for every country.
The team’s itinerary consisted of their 12 days training in Finland, with approximately 1-2 days rest days where the team had the option to explore the local city centre on their own. Before heading over to Sweden to participate in the championships.
Speaking to the Head Coach of the Singapore Men’s and Women’s Floorball team, JQ Lim said how they found the app valuable in providing relevant travel information to keep the team safe for the duration of the tournament:
The Horus-i app was really useful in providing us with relevant and up to date information, which is really beneficial for travellers in an unfamiliar environment especially during an ongoing pandemic. We were being updated regarding the COVID-19 situation as well as the constantly changing regulations, which saved us the hassle of having to look up this information ourselves.
On top of that, I was able to monitor my players’ location if they were required to travel away from the group, which gives me some ease of mind as a coach who has to oversee and account for my teams’ safety.
Captain of the Women’s Floorball team, Michelle Lok described the app as beneficial for providing up-to-date information from local news outlets:
The app provided us with some really interesting alerts which was good to know, such as some tightening of rules and regulations relating to indoor dining when we were in Finland. These were information which were not very accessible to us as we were not up to date on local news. With Horus-i app we could be sure that we are aware of the news relevant to us when we are in an unfamiliar country.
Horus-I – Keeping you safe whilst you travel
Our security experts at the Horus Control Centre kept a watchful eye on the team throughout their trip, tracking their movements to and from their destination to ensure that they arrived safely. The app provides users with the latest Covid-19 alerts for every country in the world which gave the team reassurance as they were travelling that they are staying updated with the latest changes to regulations that may impact their travel plans.
