Horus-I is a unique travel safety app with personalised security intelligence, monitoring and response services. 

What does the app do?

Horus-I’s three main features include:

  2. Real-time monitoring and support from our experts in the control room. The ‘watch me closely’ button assists you in situations where you feel threatened or uncertain, our experts will step in to keep a close eye on you and your surroundings.

  3. Expert advice at your fingertips – Chat with our watch keepers for instant assistance when feeling unsafe. Opt for the “Guardian service” for additional assistance in unfamiliar situations such as medical appointments or negotiating with estate agents

How does Horus-I protect me during emergencies?

In the case of an emergency, you can activate the “Watch Me Closely” feature on the Horus-I app which enables enhanced tracking of your location whilst notifying the Horus Control Centre that you may require immediate assistance.

Our team of experts – consisting of a unique blend of Specialist Law Enforcement, Military, Academics, Intelligence, and Security professionals will be readily available to provide the assistance necessary to bring you to safety.

However, the true benefit of the Horus-I app is its ability to provide an easily accessible 24/7 information network that continuously monitors information “as it happens” cautioning you of incidences that may impact your travel or cause you concern. It gives you the knowledge to assess the situation and make an informed decision based on the practices and procedures for safe travel that Horus Global provides ahead of time.

Does Horus-I work internationally?

Yes, the Horus-I app is designed to work anywhere globally. We provide the latest news, warnings and travel notifications to you from across 200+ countries.

 

What does “Watch me closely” do?

In times when you may feel unsafe, activating the ‘Watch Me Closely’ feature will alert our Control Centre of your location where our experts will keep a close watch on your location and provide you the support necessary to get you to safety.

 

How does the alert notifications work and can I customise them?

You can customise your alerts notifications from more than 20 different incident categories ranging from natural disasters, biomedical, security and crime etc in more than 200+ countries.

What happens if I have no data? 

Your app will continue to record your location and will send a burst update to the control panel when signal becomes available. Note that this only applies to short interruptions, longer breaks in signal will mean that only very recent location data will be sent upon reconnection. 

How much data does the app use? 

The Horus-I app has been optimised to reduce data usage in normal operation. Please note that in WMC mode, your tracking accuracy and location transmission frequency increases, thereby increasing data transmission. As such it is recommended that you only enable WMC when there is a need for greater precision in tracking your movements (i.e. in case of an emergency). 

How are alerts delivered to my phone? 

In standard mode, alerts are delivered via push notification service. You will receive a standard app notification on your phone and when you open the app you will be able to view the new alert’s details.

In NearMe mode, you will only receive a notification if you are inside the geofence of the alert when it is created – i.e. it is near to your current location. In this mode, you will also receive an SMS message providing the notification details.  

Why isn’t my phone receiving travel alerts? 

If you are finding your device is not receiving the travel alerts, first check you have personalised your alert subscription to have at least one country and one incident option (available in the Settings tab). Secondly, check the ‘Near Me’ option is deactivated otherwise you will receive alerts only within close proximity of your location. 

In NearMe mode, you will only receive a notification if you are inside the geofence of the alert when it is created – i.e. it is near to your current location. In this mode, you will also receive an SMS message providing the notification details.  

Does the app work with VPN on?

Yes, the app will be able to monitor your location and send travel alerts with your VPN on as it operates the server rather than GPS .

 

How much battery does the app use? 

The Horus-I app has been optimised to reduce battery usage in normal operation, allowing you to run the app with minimal battery drainage. Please note that in WMC mode, your tracking accuracy and location transmission frequency increases, thereby increasing the energy requirements from your mobile device. As such it is recommended that you only enable WMC when there is a need for greater precision in tracking your movements (i.e. in case of an emergency). 

Why is my battery draining so quickly? 

Please check the ‘Watch Me Closely’ feature has not been left activated as battery usage increases in order to send more location data points to the Control Centre.
